GUA SHA – I’m in love

Who doesn’t love a good contour/de-puffing tool? I am obsessed. I’ve gone through it all (almost) and I know exactly what I currently love and must share with you. I’m pretty much always puffy in some way or another in the mornings so I really rely on facial massage to make me look NORMAL. I’m a huge fan of facial massage. You can really work out your face like you do your body and facial massage is one of the best-kept secrets in Hollywood. Gua sha specifically is something I can’t seem to stop talking about because it gives me results right away. Wake up like a blowfish? I already know gua sha will save me.

What is Gua Sha? Why You Need This Facial & How To DIY At Home

The purpose of gua sha is to put pressure onto your skin using stone in order for it to break down any built up tension. The word itself means to scrape. This is great for lymphatic drainage and de-puffing. Smooths out fine lines, wrinkles, get blood flowing in the eye area to reduce dark circles, lifts the eyes, and contours the jaw line and cheekbones. Uhm yes please. For those who get migraines, gua sha your temples and thank me later.

This form of healing was invented by the ancient Chinese. It was originally used as a form of therapy for those who were sick or suffering from disease. If a specific body part was aching or tense, they would use a gua sha tool to rub against the skin to alleviate pressure (hence why this is amazing for all my migraine-prone friends out there).

Before using the tool, make sure it is clean. PLEASE. You don’t want bacteria to be spreading all over your face. I wash mine before every use with hot water and a bit of my cleanser. Then slather oil all over the face and neck, chest too if you have extra time and are feeling some self-care lovin’.

SkinGym Rose Quartz Kora Rose Quartz (w/ oil) SkinGym Jade

I chose these three specifically because I have tried many different affordable and expensive tools. I’ve found that SkinGym is good quality while still being more on the affordable side. I’ve gotten a fair share of $5-10 ones until I couldn’t anymore. They always end of breaking or shattering and these are still with me! If you take good care of it too, it’s a one-time purchase. Treat it like your baby. As you might already know, I love Kora Organics and I love that the one linked also comes with the oil. Noni is an amazing ingredient and helps to plump the skin (click here to learn more about Noni).
