It’s finally Summer! Sun, swim, chill, and have a good time. All those late nights can definitely catch up to you though if you know what I mean. With trial and error, I finally got down the perfect quick, easy, and effective skincare routine suitable for post summer day weather and activities. Wind down, relax, and read on.
I personally use my night routine as a little mental getaway. A nighttime skincare routine for me is a time to really love and pamper myself.
I like to set the mood with some aromatherapy. I like to use fresh and organic incense I get mine for my local organic grocery store. If you’re in OC/ LA, Mothers Market or Erewhon will have them. Candles are amazing too!
Then I turn my lava lamp on because I find that bright moving colors create a peaceful setting and that’s exactly what we want.
Tying the hair with a silky scrunchie is soft and healthy on the hair. I don’t need a tugging headache in the process.
Step 1: Cleansing Balm
This specific cleansing balm is THE BEST summer cleanser I have discovered yet. I usually feel the need to cleanse my skin more than once, but this takes off every bit of makeup, dirt, and oils in ONE SHOT. It stimulates collagen while doing that too. I mean, come on.
I used a silicone pad for a deep cleanse and a gentle exfoliation. I find them to be sanitary and more effective than a brush. Always pat dry! I can’t stress this enough. Rubbing on the skin causes tearing and premature wrinkles. I’ll avoid thank you very much.
Step 2: Tone
A light acid toner is essential in my routine. It keeps the pores clear and smoothes the skin beautifully. Who wouldn’t want smooth clear skin for summertime? I like this one because of the ingredients. Kombucha is a source of prebiotics. This toner is literally what we call SKIN FOOD! It’ll eat at the dead skin laying on top which in turn will help the following products to penetrate deeper.

Step 3: Serum
Vitamin C is my favorite ingredient all year round, but especially during summer. It really helps to brighten and heal. Got a sun spot? Slap some QUALITY Vitamin C serum on it before it gets deeper and watch it fade away. This product is a holy grail and I’m sure you’ll love it as much as I do. Everyone I’ve recommended it to can’t stop thanking me (don’t mean to brag, but I do). If there is one product t to splurge on, it’s this one.
Step 4: Oils
My favorite step. Oils saved my skin. Specifically this one by Mindi Walters who also happens to be my esthetician and good friend. If you follow me, you know how obsessed I am with this product. She chose all the best ingredients and made gold liquid. It plumps, smoothes, hydrates, and has retinol in it for anti-aging. I like to apply it using upward massage motions to calm the mind and really set it into the skin.
Step 5: Moisturize
Summer can be harsh and drying on the skin. Locking everything in and pressing a light moisturizer onto the skin is the best way to get all the benefits from each product we used above. I discovered this range of creams recently and it’s great for ALL skin types just like all the other products. Remember, if your skin is oily during the summer, that means it is SCREAMING for moisture.
Step 6: Eye Oil
I’ve been using this eye serum for a while now and it’s incredibly hydrating. The rolling tip helps the product to massage the serum in so you can benefit from the ingredients immediately. It’s also great for lymphatic drainage if you have puffy eyes. I keep it cool in my skincare fridge for morning and night. Don’t want to show up to the brunch with puffy lids am I right?
Step 7: Spot Treatment
My little pimple friends need to be gone. I won’t stop my life and not go to the beach though. Sweat is the worst, but it’s also natural and no one should shame the body for releasing toxins. So the alternative would be to spot treat before it grows. I like to use a clay mask. This one is specifically for nighttime. Easy and simple enough!
